My lil girl is almost four months old she's been a difficult baby since day 1... Breast feeding was not successful after super horrible gas and gagging. Started with soy as our first son was colic and it was a miracle... Constipated her so bad that she didn't poop for five days. So we are now on a formula for sens tummies. Still no change She won't sleep for longer then 2-3 hours. After trying everything and so exhausted I was falling over I took her to emerg bc something didn't feel right, the dr basically told me I was just complaining bc i was tired and she's just a baby.... I was furious, they gave me a suppository and said she was constipated but she wasn't , she is contstantly fussy, always grunting and squirming, wont sleep, never content it just wasn't right. I took her to a different dr who said she had reflux and gave me a presc for Zantac, it's been three weeks now and things are not improving, I'm at my witts end, I'm sick of drs telling me I'm just complaining ,because I'm not ,in fact my first born was HORRIBLY colic for 5 months. Any suggestions, I'm wondering if I should try a different formula! PLEASE HELP

I would strongly recommend you get your baby INVESTIGATED for REFLUX and allergies. That's what is sounds like to me (trained as Pediatrician), and the zantac isn't working. Make sure she sleep in a slightly upright position. Feed her little and often.

Honestly, you need to keep on the doctors. If the special formula and reflux meds aren't helping, you need to be an advocate for your child. It sounds to me (I am not a doctor, but I have a medical background) that she has a blockage. Does her tummy puff up and get firm? It may not be a complete blockage because she is still able to go to the bathroom, but even a partial one can cause a Lot of problems. As I said, be an advocate. Explain as calmly as you can. "I know how to handle a fussy baby, my son was for 5 months, but this seems different, I'm just concerned something more may be wrong." If the doc says you're crazy, go to a new doctor and keep it up until someone is willing to do some tests on your baby to find out what the problem is. Good Luck!

Don't give up. Be persistent. You know your baby best. I was told the same thing when my little boy was one week old. I was told nothing was wrong but I persevered and sure enough he had a bladder infection and needed to be admitted to the hospital. He started falling asleep while breastfeeding and seemed almost sedated. I knew something was wrong and didn't give up. Totally different then what you are experiencing however I just wanted you to know and keep trying different doctors until you find one who will listen to you. Have you tried an herbal remedies yet for colic?

It is not you! Prescrip at 4 months for zantac! that is not right, persist on this. There is either allergy issues here or something else. Have you tried an naturopath? Doc's like to hand out prescip. like they are magic. It may be something very simple and a natural remedy might be the most obvious, but least shared solution. Lactose intolerance, or celiac comes to mind here. wishing you quick solution! Tracey D.

So I have a question...what foods are you eating that make her gassy? There are a bunch of foods you can give her to help ease her stomach. A great herbal remedy is Gripe water. It really soothes their little bellies. If they are having gassy tummies, then something they are eating is not agreeing with their stomach. I have really stopped listening to doctors. They think medications are the only solutions because that is what they are taught. Chiropractor adjustments help, but I can help you out with foods that will ease her little belly as well, but I can't help unless I know what she is eating every day. tamekatlc2011@gmail.com...would love to help.

I had similar problems with my first (being told nothing wrong, bad reflux, colic etc etc) and the soy formula seemed to do the trick, with my 2nd the soy seemed to make her worse so i used a Lactose free formula which worked. Still now they both drink lactose free milk, the eldest is getting better with normal milk products.

You could also try some tummy massage, put olive oil on your hands and warm. Rub tummy in circles starting in the right lower tummy, up to ribs, across and then down to left lower tummy. Be gentle and sing to her while you do it.

Hi Rielle, would you be open to discussing your issues with a friend of mine? She has been a nutrionist for over 30 years and really knows her stuff. If so let me know by email. My address is marlene@andfreedom.com.
