I have 3 kids and 2 are now in school and my 3rd is 2 years away from entering kinder. Many people have asked me if I am going back to work after my 3rd goes to school. Has anyone come across this same problem? Has anyone gone back to work after the kids have gone to school?

I'm in the same position as you - 3 children, 2 in school and 2 years before my third starts school. Nobody has actually ever asked me if i'm going back to work once my youngest starts school but I really want to, although it will probably only be part time so I can collect them from school when they've finished.

Once they start school you will find that you can be just as busy helping at the school. It really depends if you want or need to go back to work. It is all up to you and don't feel guilty about either decision.

I have one 7 yr old son who is in school full time--he is my only child, so I was "expected" to go back to work when he started school, but my husband and I decided it was best that I continue to stay home.

There is still SO much to do, plus your time with the kids is much more limited and less flexible once they start school. If you spend the time they are at school working, you have to spend the time they are at home running errands and cleaning, even if you have a housekeep, you will spend some of that time on household business. If you take care of the errands, housework, finances, and other incidentals while they are at school, you can focus on them the entire time they are home. You have to help with homework, cook dinner, clean the kitchen, and get ready for the next day every night anyway, when you add errands and major housekeeping on top, you don't have any time left for the kids, except maybe weekends, but then you don't have time for hubby.

I would guess it would depend on your situation. If you are married or have a significant other that is capable of supporting you and your kids then i would say unless you feel the need to get a job you probably wouldnt. ON the other hand if you nee the income then you most definetly would! Its basically up to YOU and your sitch!
