I have a 7 week old baby girl who recently seems colicky and is very constipated. She has bowel movements the size of silver dollars and they are solid. Any suggestions on keeping my baby happy and pain free?

I agree with Karen. I used child sized liquid suppositories, which DEFINITELY get them flowing! Just be careful because they still need to learn to bear down when they get the urge to go, and you can get lazy and expect a suppository every time if you over use it. I also did the juice trick. I got baby juice and di about 6 oz. a day between breast feedings. Apple worked for my son and prune worked for my daughter. Just trial and error until you figure out what works for yours!

Try an infant suppository. I have had this problem with both of my kids, the oldest is 2 yrs and the youngest is 3 1/2 months. I have started giving the baby 1 - 6oz bottle of juice a day to help regulate her more. If you can't find infant suppositories, you can get adult ones and cut them in half length-ways. Suppositories were approved by our pediatrician before using them and they cannot hurt the baby, the Dr. even gave my baby both halves of the adult suppository(one after the other) in his office because she was so gassy. I hope this helps!

Thanks, ladies! I am waiting for my Dr. to call me back. I plan on asking about suppositories and the baby juice. He told me yesterday to give her Pedialyte - thought that was for diaherra but I guess not. Karo syrup doesn't touch her hard bowels either :-(
