Nah...he'll get there. He's up and using his legs, so I wouldn't worry about physical problems preventing him from walking. My son started getting up on his feet a couple of months ago, and I thought for sure he was going to be walking early, but he's perfectly happy cruising and crawling. When they discover that they want something that they can only reach by walking...well, watch out then b/c we'll be spending the rest of our days trying to get them to sit down! :)

All babies are different in reaching their milestones, don't get worried. My daughters walked at 15months & 13months, my son on the other hand was running before he was 8months. He just hasn't had the need to let go and take off for himself, he'll walk before you know it.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.....my first son didn't stand for the first time until he was one.....and I don't remember how long it took for the first step...just give it time.

My daughter didn't start walking until she was 16 months old and my son didn't start until he was 14 months old.  Every child is different and you can't compare your chid's milestones with others.  They each develop at their own pace.  My pediatrician said not to worry unless they were 2 year old or older and still weren't walking.  Hang in there, it will happen.

IF your baby is not walking by 16 mths definitely contact your doctor and talk to them but your baby is still in the safe/normal range for walking and by the fact that he is holding on to things and moving about it shows he is working on it. Debbie Ferrin hit the nail on the head with her comment. As adults we all have our strengths and weaknesses and children are no different. My daughter was advanced in verbal and fine motor skills but average on gross motor skills and she walked at 14 mths so just being a year old if he were to let go today and start walking it is still above average via the milestone charts.

No worries ... he sounds like he is right on track.

he's the boss, believe me when he's ready he will- enjoy this cuz once they start there's no stopping them!!! some need ,ore time than others, he's obviously still just a little intimidated, that's all.

My son is 14 months old and exactly the same.  He walks around all the furniture and holding our hands, but we cannot get him to take more than 2 or 3 steps alone.  My daughter walked at 13 months and I have heard that boys are often slower than girls.

My eldest was 18 months and my youngest was about 15 months before they walked. If he's walking holding onto stuff then  I wouldn't worry, he'll get there eventually.

Some babies know they crawl faster so wont walk until they have reason to. Try not to worry. You could ask your pediatritian about it if you think it might be a problem, like if there are other things he is behind on, but I know babies who didnt walk til they were 2.

Every child does things at different paces. My 7 year old daughter didn't walk until she was 15 months old but she communicated well. Her friend that was the same age walked before she was a year old but didn't communicate well. My 17 month old has been walking since she was 10 months old but still isn't really talking yet.
