I'm a happy stay at home mother of 7 amazing kids! I just wondered what other peoples opinions are on home-education. They all go to groups such as Ballet, Football, break-dancing and drama etc... but i wondered what other people thought of home-education and any ideas of activities to do now summers on its way?! :) thanks x

Good Morning!
I too am a homeschooling mom to my wonderful three children. We live about 40 miles out on a ranch, so we homeschool out if necessity. I personally have been blessed enough for my children to go to 3 different types of school( public school, private school & homeschooling) all of them are appropriate for what your children's needs are. Plublic school is a good alternative if you can't homeschool or send your kids to private school. There are great teachers and staff at some of the schools, however what I have found when we lived in AZ the student to teacher ratio ( 37-1) is way to high for children's to get any sort of individualized attention. Private school worked really well and we loved every minute of it, however the 2000 a month for private school was not fun! We choose to homeschool like I said out of necessity because I am a stay at home ranchers wife, we live 35-40 miles out of town on a good day lol. However that is not the only reason we choose to homeschool, we choose to educate our children because that's what we were ment to do as moms, their are so many different curriculums now that you don't have to even piece together (like I did a couple years ago), their are co-op home schools, and lots of activities for the kids to get their social needs met. I have found that even tho I want to throw my hands up sometimes and take a long walk back to the closest private school I couldn't imagine NOT watching my children's improvements, successes and their falls. To watch my daughter who is ADHD finally be able to read on her own for 45 minutes is all I need! If your asking yourself why... Ask your self why not! On a side note I use Sonlight and Singapore math for my kids and AOP for my preschooler. Summer is so much fun for my kids and this momma too, I get the much needed break they do dance camps, swim lessons, vacation bible school, the older ones donate time at a dog shelter, horse lessons at the house. Wishing you blessings and a happy & healthy summer with your kids.

I admire you for staying home and homeschooling your children. It is actually what I aspire to do with my children. :-) I plan on doing the same with allowing them to participate in groups and enrichment sessions depending on what's going on in the homeschool network where we will be living at that time. I see a lot of moms who homeschool in the blogging community I'm in. I can't post any blogs in this forum due to the rules, but perhaps you can google some of their blogs. If you message me personally I'll know you are interested and I can send you some blogs your way to see what those moms are up to. I'm sure someone will respond with some great ideas though. Enjoy your summer!
