for the times when youjust want a moment of peace, i hadaGREAT idea. i took one of those small outdoor slides (like the plastic little tykes ones) and put it in my living room! my18month old twins play on it TONS. its nice to b able to sit down for aminute and they still have a blast and burn energy. everyone loves the idea when theybring theirkids over for playdates and see how entertained they are

What about games like 'hide and seek' My kids and I play veriations of this game all the time. It keeps them busy and entertained by me but also allows me to get things done around the house.

For example, my DD will go 'hide' and even if its super obvious I give a bit of time before I "find" her this way she gets excited about the game, usually I will pull laundry out of the dryer or something in this time while loudly saying "hmm where could she be hiding...in the fridge maybe..."

Turn everything you can into a game, preschoolers especially love to interact this way!

My husbands grandma babysits his 4 year old cousin and she usually will print off activities you can color or construct. There is almost always a new one hanging up every time we go over there.

Finger painting...If you have little ones under 2 you can still finger paint just use washable food coloring and cake gell. Mix them together and you have home made finger paint that they can have a ball and get messy with.
