I need suggestions on how to get my 7 week old around.

I have a 7 week old and an 8 year old. I have to pick up my son from his bus stop every day and due to a back injury I can't walk there. I don't have a car and so far I've only come up with taking him in a wrap in my wheel chair, but it's so hot where I am I'm afraid he'll over heat. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I know this may sound weird but one day I saw a mom with her baby in a front basket of her wheel chair. It looks like she may have put it there herself but still. She had a blanket under neither the baby and he was lying down. It would even work as he gets older. You could put a small booster seat in it and strap it in and him in. Again sounds weird but it worked for her. I have also seen a man pulling them behind in a wagon, granted he is still too young for that but in the future it could work.

if you have to continue with your lo in the sling then make sure he is only wearing a diaper and that arms and legs are free - for example if you use a moby wrap this is possible.

Call your school principal and tell him/her your situation. I bet s/he can make some things happen for you, too and the safety of his students has to be a priority for him/her. Your school district also probably has some administrator in charge of transportation. That's another person to call. I bet they can arrange for the bus to drive two tenths of a mile extra to bring him to your door for two more years. If you don't get results there call some school board members.. The heat is a problem now, but rain and maybe snow(?) will make it hard for you to get out with your little one as the year goes on. Tell them this!! Good luck!

(VERY last resort-- maybe there's a middle or high school kid in the neighborhood who you could pay a couple dollars a week to meet the bus?)

Just to update: I called the transportation office and after talking to 3 purple I'm still waiting to get a call back. Sigh. You would think it would be easier to get an answer, but at least I didn't have to figure it out today. My son stuck paper in his ears to block the sound if a fire still, so off to the ped we went to get it removed. Hoping tomorrow is better. Trying so hard but with a sprained back from an accident before my pregnancy of the 7 week old that hadn't healed yet and complications from the epidural, I'm feeling a bit helpless.

I truly didn't think of that. They make accommodations for children, if their rule involves parents maybe they will with a note or Dr documentation. I'll call them tomorrow.

It's only .2 miles. We got him a cell phone, have him a map with "landmarks" on it. I talked to him the whole way home, and have GPS on his phone to track him. The bus driver actually followed him home and the driver told me the policy changed this year and before 10 they have to be met. I've only been in the neighborhood for a few months and there aren't any kids on my street who are on his bus and I don't know the surrounding area. My husband had his own business, so tomorrow he's changed his schedule to be home, but that's not a final solution.
