I need this kid to sleep.....

[deleted account] ( 2 moms have responded )

Our son is almost 2 1/2 years old and still does not sleep through the night. He has been a terrible sleeper since birth...up an average of 3 times a night. He goes to bed just fine (at about 8pm), but is up by 1am and then a couple times there after. He usually settles down at 5/5:30 and will sleep late into the morning if we can let him. It's 10am right now and he's still out. We've tried cutting out naps, and trying earlier and later bed times. We've tried lamps and nightlights. We've even given him Nyquil (children's), but it tends to wear off sometime throughout the night and then he's up. We've tried letting him cry it out, but that doesn't work. Nothing works. We need sleep. Has anyone else been through this? And, if so, what worked?

Both my kids went through this too. It does get better. What helped my kids is when they woke up and came in my room and woke me I told them they could take there pillow and blanket to the sofa and sleep there but they are not to wake me up doing it. I told them in the morning when it's light out is the only time they are to wake me. And eventually they will end up sleeping through the whole night.

Giving him Nyquil is a big no no, If he dosen't need it for cold, stop using it , he up probly because of the caffine in it. Cutting out his naps are good, Maybe try letting him run around, play ground ,a field ect. out doors stuff the fresh air help me with my girl, she was a night owl also. Good luck
