Kenya,
Are you still looking for ways to make money, and stay home with your children?
I have a great business for you. I work with a great group of parents, helping families live their dreams, and stay home. I have teamed up with My Family Dream Team. There is no parties, no inventory.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Check out my website http://www.TheBest4MyKids.com
I have tried Partylite, and Tastefully Simple. I did not like having to leave my children at night. With this, I am home at night, and can enjoy my kids.

I am a Mary Kay consultant. I hold 75% of my business in my home office. I get the chance to talk to adults and a lot of my customers have kids so my kids have play dates. I would love to share some information with you.

Hi Kenya!

I am a stay at home mom with 2 boys 4 1/2 and 18 months. I started looking for work at home opportunities just after having my first son. I tried a few different things and lost money in the process. I finally found something that makes total sense. I don't sell products, carry inventory or have to do home parties. I don't sit at home on the computer either. I can do all of my regular daily activities while working my business. The investment is only $29! Not only that, but if you decide it's not for you, you get a full refund! There is absolutely NO RISK! It is seriously the best home business! I'd love to get in touch with you to give you all of the information! Send me an e-mail and I'll give you a call to set up a time to talk. If you decide it's not for you, no problem...there's no pressure at all, but I guarantee it will be worth your time. Hope to chat soon!

I'm a SAHM with three girls and baby #4 on the way. DH works 30 hours a week while attending grad school full time. We've lived on one income or one partial income for the entire 6 years of our marriage. Instead of me working to bring in more income, it's my job to find ways to cut our expenses. There are lots of things you can do to cut back expenses and not need to work.

We only eat out about once a month... everything else is homemade from pretty close to scratch. I buy in bulk when things are on sale, and try to avoid expensive stuff or other things that are not on sale (example... I buy milk every week because we have to have it... and I can't really stock up without it going bad... but I refuse to buy butter if it's more than $2/lb (we HATE margerine), so when it's on sale I stock up and freeze it... if it's not on sale, I don't buy it).

Also, plan your week so you only have to run errands one or two days and go with a list and stick to it. This helps save money because you don't get as many impulse buys and you save gas because you don't run out every evening to get stuff for dinner.

We've also discovered that the "envelope" method of budgeting works well for us. We have a set budget for food/household items/clothing/gas/etc... and cannot go over that. Every time a paycheck clears I run to the bank and withdraw that budget in cash. When the cash is gone... our budget is maxed out and I have to wait until the next paycheck to buy anything for those categories. The rest of our money stays in our checking account and is used for paying the rest of our bills.

There are lots of ways to cut back and save money. I've considered many times trying to start an at home business or do something else to bring in a little extra income... but I can't justify spending that much time away from my kids... even if they're just in the next room.

A home-based business is the way to go. Depending on what you like, you have to find something you love & it will be easier. I am a stay-at-home mom with 3 girls & I earn extra income with a home-based business. If you would like more info, visit www.mygc.com/gaelgordon

Oh you're welcome!  I know what you mean about the economy... it's getting downright scary!  I hope this works out for you!  That's great that you already have experience with teaching, I'm sure you'll have an easier time than most with it.  Good luck!

If you stay at home with your child, you could always earn extra cash watching other kids. That's what I do. Also your child has someone to play with.

Thanks Ashley. That sure helps! I've had previous experienmce in teaching/training but all my experience is from back home in India(where I come from originally). That's the reason i find it hard to work here - how, where & what to begin with?! I worked a short while at a doctors office(who also happens to be my husband!) before my 2nd daughter was born. She's 2 now I've been thinking of working at something again. Coz of the economy, gas prices, daycare costs & my lack of experience in the job market here, i have been hesitant to go out & work & have been looking for legit job opps from home. This could be the opp I was looking for. Am so glam for COM's & this community & for coming across u....

Hi Rena! I'd be happy to tell you more about it...Right now I'm a certified tutor in English-Essay Writing, and I love it.  It's really nice because you can schedule as many or as little hours as you want each week.  Well, actually there are "caps" on how many hours you can actually schedule; however, you can get on as a "floating tutor" when you're not scheduled and if there are students waiting, you will get connected with them for a session and still get paid for it for up to 35 hours a week.

Anyway, it's through for about a year now, and it's been really nice to earn the extra money on the side.  How much you make depends on how many hours your work, and how long you've been tutoring.  I think I make $10-12 an hour if in session the whole time (if not, then they kind of pro-rate it based on that amount).  I got certified in a few different subjects, but only tutor in the English-Essay Writing.

It's at-home "job" that's legit haha!  It's so hard to find things out there that aren't scams.  Right now, they are hoping to hire lots more tutors, because apparently the program is getting to be better known, and we have been slammed every night.  I do have a teaching degree, however, that is not required to become a tutor, since you go through their certification process regardless.  Like I said, I'm a tutor in English-Essay writing, but you can certify in any, and as many, subjects as you want.

If you are still interested, just go to , then click on "Become a Tutor" in the bottom left corner (in the orange box).  Hope this helps!

Quoting Ashley:

I am an online tutor for Tutor.com.  If you are interested in becoming a tutor, you can just go to the main site and there is a link you can click on to learn about becoming a tutor.  It doesn't make me a ton of money, but enough to help out with some bills.  Hope that helps!

Hi Ashley,

I am considering working from home too & was interested in what u do. Seems like my kind of thing. Can you tell me a little bit more about it like, do I need any kind of qualifications/skills for this, what kind of tutoring is it etc. etc. I will check out the site but some insights on these questions would help.

Have you considered Mary Kay? I am a beauty consultant and love being able to set my own hours. It allows me some time to get out of the house and have fun with other women while making money. I make 50% of everything I sell! I would love to tell you more if you are interested. My email is jenniferwaite@marykay.com

I am a Pamered Chef consultant and I really enjoy it...it is work and it does take time but you can make good money with it.  I have friends that do other things like clean or organize houses, process orders for the home shopping network, book airline and hotel reservations, sell MaryKay makeup...there are lots of options!  The best advice i could give you is to think of what you enjoy and are good at, and also how much time you could dedicate to it (without taking away from your family) and go from there.

I recently started a children's consignment shop in my garage.  I can spend all day with my kids and I just run out when the door chime tells me someone is there.  It is a little bit of income, but more importantly I feel like I'm contributing a little more.  It was relatively easy to set up and has been pretty simple to maintain.  I finish my paperwork and stuff when My husband gets home, that gives me a break from the kids.

I opened a day home and look after other peoples kids while they are at work. The best part is your child/ren have someone to play, grow, etc... with.

At home businesses are a great idea IF you want to actually work.  I have one and it does not run itself, I have to put forth more effort to make the money than I would if I were commuting to do someone else's bidding.  If you currently have a career, speak with your boss about ways to do your current job from home - even if just part time or on a trial basis.

I set up customer accounts for a Wellness company and get a commission monthly off every account I set up.  My website is www.earnathomelikeme.com if you'd like some info.  I was working full time before I started this.   It's work, but it has been worth it for me.
