I would really like to know if anyone else is having issues with their husband/boyfriend's family? My husband's dad's side of the family totally hate me because I am at stay at home mom. They feel I am lazy because I don't have a job plus take care of our 18 month old daughter. He makes enough for me to stay home and be with her. I was just wondering if anyone else was having these issues.

I am. I am a stay at home mother. My son Ezra will be five this summer. I breast fed him until he was 4 years old. I am a LDS and I have social security income. People to do not put me in the same brackett as other LDS mom's I think that stay at home. They do not think that I am "true blooded" LDS stay at home mom, because of the social security income and I get ostresized for that. They do not come right out and say it, but I do not get a calling. They do not ask me to bring snacks to Sunday School like the other mothers.

Thanks for reminding me why I love being a SAHM military wife with two toddlers :) No but seriously, I hear you, both of our families are like that and I just couldn't take living back at home anymore. We switched our residency with no intentions to go back. Now we're just looking for good friends. I hope that they don't drive you to anywhere near such extremes because I feel that families are important. I still have a few people on either side that I'm close to. Have you heard of the saying a few rotten apples ruining a lot? Some people drive me nuts. Live and let live in peace!! ;p

Thanks Jenna!! Lucky for me all hs family lives either 3 hours from us or in Iowa. I just hate to get the emails and the phone calls and I want them to like me. And I hate that fact that they talk about me behind my back. It is really hard. But at the very least he has finally defended me to them.

I have in-laws that feel since I am a stay at home mom that I should be the family babysitter. They try to dump my other nieces, nephews, and cousins on me at last minute - thinking I have nothing better to do. Then they have the gall to criticize my parenting lol. My thought - if you don't like how I raise my son why are dropping your kids here?? Get the heck out! lol

It irritates my husband the way his family acts ... he has gone cuckoo bananas on them a couple times already lol. Chin up!!! You are definitely not alone!!

Thanks to both of you! My MIL is great! We had our issues @ first but we are great now.She still drives me crazy but I love her. It is his dads side. I dont have to see them @ all after this weekend. After two years he finally sees that its not just me thinking they don't like me. His cousin sent me a email lon fb threatening me. I was just wondering if it was me! lol

Emily My MIL is wonderful but the rest of the family seems to have issues w/ me b/c I'm so much younger than the rest of the women so they talk to me like I'm a child when they are giving me advice I didn't ask for!

How often do you actually see these people?! If it's not often just ignore them if it's more than you like then you need to have a talk with you husband and ask him to address these issues with his family. If he refuses then you'll just have to have your own back and stand up to them.

I'm sorry that you don't get along with you in-laws for that reason. I don't get along with my MIL as much as I would like, but it has nothing to do with that. She's happy that I'm able to stay home with my Children. It's unfortunate that your in-laws don't see the positive side of you staying home with you daughter. I guess all that matters is that you and your Hubby are on the same page.

Best Wishes!
