Ideas for Christmas

[deleted account]

This is something I want to do, but haven't gotten around to it yet!

I want to make an advent calendar. On the flip side of the number I'm going to write a family activity for us to do that day. Activities include...Christmas parties that are already on the calendar, watching various Christmas movies, buying toys to donate to charity, baking and bringing the goodies to friends and family, etc.

December 1 is next week so I really need to get on that!

Decorations go up next week, baking continues and then in three weeks my sister gets here with my 6 month old nephew!!!! Her husband is coming a week later. The live on the other side of the country so we are super excited. It's just going to be a good old family Christmas. Lots of good food, music, laughter and cheer! Yay!

This will e our first xmas without extended family. We're putting the tree up xmas eve and decorating that day too. Going out to eat somewhere for dinner, even if it's McDonalds...I'm not cooking =] We're going to watch xmas movies and play in the snow. Xmas day we will most likely just hang out and eat dessert for breakfast. I want to make a ham since I can just put it in the oven an let it heat up and my easy version of candied yams (only 15min!) and dinner rolls for lunch and dinner. Open presents that morning.

My family and I will be going to my parents for Christmas. This will be the first time in 4 years. We are excited. But until then. Cleaning house, then decorating and making cookies to take.

I will be going up to my parents to celebrate christmas eve with my dads side of the family (hopefully I can convince my boyfriend not to be a grinch and join me instead of working). Christmas day if my boyfriend stayed to work I will come back home to spend the day with my boyfriend and have our own little dinner and watch christmas movies all day.

I have decided to suprise my hubby today and decorate the house with the help of the kids. He will love it when he gets home to a beautiful house.
I will bake a little But not much because we are in Aus and it's just way to hot to stay in the kitchen for long.

We'll decorate and shop this weekend so that we can relax during the weeks leading up to Christmas.
We have several Christmas parties/dinners to attend in the weeks before Christmas. I like doing them that way so that we are not trying to see everyone on Christmas Eve.
We always go to "The Nutcracker" and "Singing Christmas Tree" and take a drive to look at Christmas Light displays and get pics with St. Nicholas.
On Christmas Eve we have breakfast with my mom & dad, then lunch with my in-laws. Then we'll help J make his list, bake cookies for St. Nicholas and watch some Christmas movies until J falls asleep.
Christmas morning we let J discover what St. Nick left for him, and our parents visit to let him show off his new toys. Then we pack up and head for a cabin in the mountains so that my husband and J can have a "White Christmas" (It doesn't snow here). We'll stay there until New Years and play in the snow, open gifts between us, listen to Christmas music, and watch Christmas movies.

funny you should ask..... hubby is checking the outside lights as I type! I have some other decorations that just sit on the ground that I have already put out. We've had our first snowfall today and the kids are outside playing in it.
The Christmas wreath will go on the front door. Colored light bulbs on the exterior light fixtures. The kids love to put those gel things in the windows -- Grandma always buys some from the dollar store. In a couple of weeks we will get the tree. We always go to this local tree farm and cut our own. It's become our little family tradition. They have horse-drawn wagons that take you to and from the fields, they wrap your tree up for you while you sit by a big bonfire and drink hot chocolate. They also have a hill for sledding and a skating pond. The kids just love it. Oh, and they actually have a couple of reindeer too! Then the kids will help me decorate the tree --- we have special Disney tree decorations that I bought a couple of years ago. And some home-made ones that my mom and I made when I was little. I will decorate inside a bit too.....usually lots of paper snowflakes hanging everywhere......which is not very Martha like, but they love it. I will do some baking, but I mostly still a bit of a rookie in the kitchen.
I have family coming from out West on the 22nd, and since my husband actually doesn't have to work Christmas Eve or Day this year....we will be at home then (except church for a few hours on Eve). Then on Christmas afternoon my whole big family (like 40-50 people) get together for dinner at my aunt's house. It used to be my grandparents farm, but they have both passed now. But we are continuing the tradition. And since I have already bought most of the gifts......all I have to do is wrap them! So I can hopefully have lots of time to just relax this year. It should be pretty exciting because our youngest is 1 years old now and it will be amazing to see her reaction to the lights, tree, Santa, presents.....
Now I am getting to excited.....I can't wait!

Not a damn thing! Enjoying the day with my boys! We're going to put up the Christmas tree and decorations next weekend. And then we're just going to reeeeeeeeelaxxxxxxxxxxx. Our first Christmas in our first home, we're not going anywhere and we're not doing anything but whatever we decide we want to do when we wake up that morning :D
