put you new baby in a bassanit but be careful with your 2 year old around the bassinet. Or maybe a pack in play. It would be a waste of money your 2 yr old will be crawling out of the crib soon.

3 months before my son's 2nd b-day i bought him a toddler bed from IKEA. We had another baby on the way also. We have it to him as a b-day present and decorated it with his favorite cartoon character's sheets. I was worried that he might not be ready too but in the end he did fine and he really liked his big boy bed. At first we would still have to hang out on his bed with him until he slept, but by the time the baby came he was good at laying down. I'm afraid to say I wouldn't waste the extra money on a new crib and bedding. Unless you plan to have twins down the road (lol) 2 cribs seems overkill. Remember, it may not be that he's not ready for the bed, it may just be that he needs to be adjusted to a different way of being put to bed. Good luck :^)

i didn't. my daughter was 16 months old and sleeping in a full size bed that was against teh wall on one side and had one of those safety catch things on the other side. she loved it. we let her pick out her own sheets, a couple fun pillows, and two new stuffed animals. we got her in it before baby came around so she wouldn't feel like he was "stealing" her bed. she only fell out once - when she was about 18 months old. i wouldn't do two cribs if you can avoid it. i think he should do okay in his own bed.
