Each child takes their own time. With my first I went six hours, with my second four hours and with my third 15 hours. Sometimes inducing helps to speed up the process but most of the time the single dose of pitossin slows down contractions. It wasn't until they upped my pitossin that my contractions became more steady and the labor progressed.

i was only a couple cm dilated for a few days, i went in saturday night thinking i was in labor, that's when they told me i was only about a cm and sent me home then at my doctor visit the wednesday after i was still only 2 cm so i had to get induced the next morning, it took 2 tries and breaking my water before i got past 2 cm then it still took hours after that to get fully dilated. so yes, i would say that is progress and good luck! hope everything goes well :)

Yes that's a process! I was also dilated with my first baby and the very first thing that my doctor did to induce me is insert a foley catheter to mechanically open my cervix. I was barely 2cm then after having the foley catheter for 6 hours inside, i was down to 7 cm! So 5 cm within six hours!
