Look into play groups in your area. My church's playgroup was fantastic. There was another one that I actually got paid to run that was horrible. Keep hunting until you find one you like or start your own with fliers at the local library or park. The one I liked had kids from newborns to kindergarten. It was really low-key - the kids would play and we would talk to each other. Occasionally, we'd do a craft or go to local museums. We'd meet weekly at the church, each other's houses, libraries, or parks. I needed other adults to talk with to keep sane. Good luck

i belong to moms group through church which organizes a meeting a week for moms so the kids go to nursery.. awesome!! and my kids know when we get to church whats going on.. they also have playdates.. mothers night out, random events like bake sales or retreats.. been a lifesaver for me, i knew nobody when we first moved here.. and i have two boys so we go outside a lot.. i've found a lot of parks, a place called pump it up which is like a room full of those moon walk things.. library groups, i go to play area at malls when its real cold out.. walks around the block or two.. change of scenary works wonders for my kids

it works out well enough because they give me and my family a roof over our heads. Though they have threatened to kick us out many times especially right towards the end of my pregnancy. They say that now that we have a baby we need to get a place of our own and that we aren't even trying that we just waste our money away even though we never go anywhere and never do anything except when my stepdaughter comes. then we spend about 20 dollars on dinner for the three of us and 20 dollars in gas because we have to drive 82 miles one way just to get her and then another 82 miles to get back home. but we are hoping to be out of here by january. we are going to use his end of the year bonus which should be about 750 dollars to get a 2 bedroom apartment. so other than that we are doing fine...I think maybe once we get our own place it will be a lot easier because I will only be cleaning up after us two and occasionally his daughter. I think the hardest part is going to be the laundry. let me know if this helps you. and thanks for the idea of starting a play group I might do that once we get our own place because the in laws don't like other people in their house I am not even allowed to invite my family over unless they stay outside.

i am in the same boat except my baby is just two months. i also have a step daughter who is five though she is at her moms mostly when she does come over I generally walk her down to the park. other than that I don't really have any suggestions. when it is just me and my baby I generally just sit at home all day. I would really like to get into a routine. except I live with my in laws and when I clean for some reason I don't feel comfortable cleaning around other people so as soon as they come home I usually stop cleaning so i don't really get a whole lot done. I clean between 8 am when my fiancee goes to work and stop usually around 3 or 4 when his mom gets home.
