Infant with cold

Is a two week old baby able to fight off a cold? I woke up with symptoms of a cold this morning and I think I had a fever last night. Now, less than 24 hours later, I have a cough, sore throat and I'm completely stuffed up. I'm worried because my son is only 2 weeks old and I'm breastfeeding so we are in close contact all day long. Should I be concerned... I know he will probably get this from me!!

if he catches ur cold yes he will b able to fight it off. are u takin any meds for ur cold tho?? since u r breastfeedin u may wanna ask ur dr about that cuz the meds could get into ur breastmilk and then ur son will drink that milk n that could make him sick. im not 100 percent on that so u may want to ask ur dr. and for the first 2 to 3 months of a babys life they r immune to everything that u r becasuse they still have an antibody from u in there system protecting them from disease. keep an eye on him and see how he feels and if he starts to show symptoms of a cold, take him to the dr. good luck!

You are giving him the best immune system that he can possibly have right now by breast feeding him! I would not concern yourself too much until he is showing symptoms that concern you. This may pass right by him. I hope you are able to take something to help yourself that won't effect your baby! Good luck and all the best to you and your new baby!
