It's genetic. I got my teeth in early as did all my brothers and sisters. My son (who's 2) got his first tooth in at 3.5 months, and most of them were in before 9 months. While other kids were just getting their first few teeth at a year, my son had a full mouth! It's normal, and thankfully, I never had any problem with his teeth and breast feeding!

My daughter got her 2 bottom teeth when she was 4 months old. They say it is somewhat genetic when they get their first teeth. My brother and I both started getting teeth around 5/6 months so I pretty much expected her to get them early too. It's actually better I think cause now that she is getting a bunch more she doesnt seem to be as fussy because she went through it starting at such a young age. Its like she already knows what to expect lol

No, my son got his bottom two when we was 8 weeks old. I thought I was nuts for thinking at 6 wks that he was teething but then 2 wks later there they were. He got his two year molars at 14 mos also. My husband was also very early at getting teeth.

My daughter got her first 2 teeth 2 days apart at about 5 1/2 months, and my son is just under 4 months and is currently working on his first.

absolutely not! yet, i'm sure you weren't ready for the fussiness of teething to begin so soon. i have twins, and my son popped out his 2 bottom teeth @ 5 months, which i thought was early too, but apparently not!! Good luck~

my son had 8 by the time he was 6 months. They started coming at 3 months. All babies get teeth at different times. Just make sure you are providing safe chewing for your baby, and keep your childs teeth clean.

No, not at all.  I have a 5 month old as well, and he's drooling up a storm, showing some signs of discomfort--as he's chewing on his hands a lot- and the little tooth 'buds' are visible under the gums.

I also have a 2 1/2 year old, and can remember these same symptoms around the same age.

Not to worry.  :)

The average age for first teeth is between 4-7 months, but anytime up until 18 months is normal - my pediatrician said that you only need to start having concerns if they haven't cut any teeth by 18 months, then you should have it looked into. My daughter is almost 11 months and has been working on her top two teeth for months, but nothing has popped through yet. My sister-in-law had a little girl in her daycare that was born with 2 teeth and had 2 more come through at six weeks, so it just depends on the baby I think.

My middle son got his first tooth at 3 1/2 mo, I was told the teeth come in the age you or the father got them...can't say i agree my oldest got his first ones at 9mo.. and the youngest got hers at 1 so..everyone of mine were different,,just lookout for the drooling we discovered it from feeding off a metal spoon it scraped the tooth and we felt it!

5 months is actually really normal. The average age for getting the first tooth is 4-7 months. My daughter has 8 teeth and just turned 9 months.

It's not too early at all. My baby girl had her first tooth at 4-1/2 month. She then had one more every 2 weeks or so after that. By 10 months, she had 8 of them. By the way, it doesn't mean she was ready for solids. She only started liking solids at 9 months.
