Is it normal for your 21 month old baby to have a random screaming tantrum and punches you?

Is this the start of the "terrible two's"? Your child is more than likely frustrated at not being able to communicate with you to his liking, so could be lashing out at you by punching etc. I would try to take note of when this happens, like near feed times, play times, when he is tired etc so you can try to avoid the violence. He wouldn't be inflicting much danger to you, but if he does this to other kids it may hurt them. Try to explain that he mustn't punch. Any mum will tell you their child throws tantrums and to me they (the tantrums) all seem random :-) Good luck & keep trying your best!

Oh yeah kids at that age wants they want and will fight to get it. It's all they know how to do. My daughter was the same way she hit all the time. That's when parenting comes into play, we have to teach them manners and how to be polite. It will pass

What do you mean by random? I found with my kids either they did not get what they wanted or I did not understand what they wanted. Some kids have sensory issues and i could be a noise or getting dressed. There is usually a reason but it may be hard to know what it is. This is a tough age because their communication skills and their ability to verbalize their needs is not there yet. I try to avoid situations they may be stressful for both of us. I also try to redirect their attention to something else. Good luck.
