Is it okay to take claritin if you are breastfeeding?

I am a pharmacist, and I can tell you that while it's not likely to harm your baby if you take a dose every now and then, it is not usually recommended while you are breast feeding because it is an antihistamine, and all antihistamines can diminish breast milk production. This is really a call for your pediatrician to make, but if you can get by with using nasal saline and breathe-right strips, then I would recommend avoiding the antihistamines.
