My daughter will be a year old on April 7th 2010 and recently she has learned to take off all her clothes and we often wake up to her butt naked in her crib sheets soaked and her little droppings thrown all over her room(she throws them) I am really tierd of washing sheets daily and having to pick up little poops all over her room. So i got her a big girl potty and i have been letting her run around naked during the day but at nap time i let her go back in a diaper i have realized sence doing this she isnt really taking it off as much. Anyways, after a nap or every hour or so I make her sit on the potty with me. everytime i go i bring her along. I read to her on the potty and we sing i try to make it as fun as possible and when i pee ill make a psssssssssssssssssss sound she thinks its funny and has actually gone pee in her potty 2x. My question is, is it possible to get her off diapers completly by a year old? what works? has anyone else done infant potty training? She will not poo in her potty only pee how can i help this? i have some training pants coming in the mail so im hoping this will help her

I think its great to let your daughter show you when she is ready. We never potty trained our daughter she let us know when she was ready and was "Potty Trained" at 18months but started at 14 months ( not using anymore diapers). GL and congrats on being a great mom:)

It is possible..my friend's daughter was potty trained @ 8 months.. But my HONEST opinion would be to talk to her pediatrician..The pediatrician will know more about your child's individual personality, health, growth, etc. I would make an appt. and ask what he/she recommends or ask them to give you some research on it :)

I say go for it, if she is ready then good for you both. If you can not find small enough panties, bring the sides if, or have a find do it for you.

i have never heard of anyone being potty trained by 1 year of age. but, my daughter was potty trained by two, but she had a problem going number 2 at night in the bathroom. she was afraid of the tolet. u are doing what needs to be done. it just takes time. each child will make the decision when they r ready to stop using pullups. we like to think that it is something we can control but really it is not. ur child has to feel confident about herself in order to be able to let go of the security of the pullup. praise ur daughter everytime she goes potty and every now and then reward her.Do NOT do it every time. thank her for being a big girl. also help her to understand the sensations when she has to use the bathroom. when u have to go, hold ur bladder and do the pee pee dance and say in a funny voice mommy has to go potty. that way she will understand that when she feels pressure there she needs to go potty. do the same with number 2. good luck!

Hey! No problem! There is actually a group called Diaper Free Moms here on COM. :)

I haven't told many people what we're doing... only three of my family. All but my mom think I'm crazy. But, stick with it!

thank you so much i have been reading alot about the EC ever sence i seen a couple on the tv show radical parenting who were doing that. I find it interesting. I just want her to be able to go on her own. She is a very smart girl and I feel she is ready but everytime I mention it to someone they always laugh saying she is still to young or make jokes how im the "over achieving type of parent" and im kinda tierd of being put down for trying to better my daughter. Thank you again I would love to join some type of EC community.. ... we should start a group on here find more parents who participate in the elimination communication and share tips.. you interested?

Yes! It is possible. It's called Elimination Communication, or Infant Potty Training. Before about the 1950s, when all the pop psychology of "waiting until they're ready" happened, kids were potty trained well before age two. My grandmother was completely potty trained when she started walking at 9 months.

I would check out http://www.diaperfreebaby.org/ for resources on early potty training. I haven't accomplished early potty training yet, but am currently pottying my five-week old. And, believe it or not, she'll frequently stay dry during her naps, and waits to pee or poo until I hold her over her potty. Then she goes a lot. I loved that website, which another EC'ing mom pointed me to. I've also heard that "The Diaper Free Baby" by Christine Gross-Loh has great advice for late-starters. It sounds like your little girl is really receptive. Definitely don't wait! My two-year-old isn't potty trained yet, and is having a hard time. We missed her natural age of interest, and now it's a struggle.

The only difficulty is finding panties small enough. I had trouble finding any for my small two-year-old. Can't imagine trying to find something for her little sister!

Best of luck!

Beth
