I just had my Mirena removed in January. My husband and I have been trying to conceive baby #2! I have seen on other websites about women having problems conceiving after getting the IUD removed?! Or even women miscarrying because of the Mirena!? Has anyone heard of any of this!? If so I need some advice regarding when to get pregnant!

My friends who have had theirs removed haven't had any of those problems. It took 3 to 6 months (I think) for them to concieve again. Part of the delay was pressure from self to get pregnant again right away. None of them miscarried. I know that the older IUD's had these kinds of problems associated with them. If you are really concerned, go see your doc and talk to them about this. It has been barely over a month, so keep trying and be fabulously irresponsible in the attempts. Good luck.

I had the Mirena removed in January 2009, we got on BirthControl for a little while after it, we weren't quit ready (actually still debating on if we wanted a 3rd) but I was having some side effects. I had the Mirena in for 4 years. We got pregnant in August of last year, I had a little trouble remembering to take the pill everyday. Give your body a several cycle to get back into its natural cycle. As for when it is safe, they say as soon as it is out, with any BirthControl the hormones will clear your system pretty quickly once you are off them.

Good Luck on conceiving baby #2, and relax and enjoy the process of getting there :).

God Bless!

My first baby was a complete surprise. I missed 2 pills and boom I was pregnant. I had my son and then decided I didn't want to take pills so I went with the iud. I had my mirena for one year and it caused me nothing but problems. My husband and I decided that we wanted to have another child so I had it removed. We figured it would be as easy as it was the first time, but boy were we wrong. It took us 12 months to conceive, we now have a beautiful, healthy baby girl. My doctor tried to talk me into getting another iud and i told him "no way".

I was really coinerned and my doc told me after a month of it being removed you should be able to conceive as soon as possible!! But I still have thoughts in the back of my mind like what ifs and things! Im glad your friends were able to conceive and that gives me a great ray of hope!! So thank you for your response!!! Ill be as irresponsible as I can be! lol Thanks!
