just was wondering because its supposed to be 100 degrees today and we are going to be out in it. I just don't want her to get dehydrated.

Yes water is fine...my daughter was 8 months old when we went to the zoo last summer and it was over 100 degrees when we went...she wouldn't drink water so I actually watered down some juice...I think it was probably 10% juice and the rest water...I just couldn't even think about formula on a hot day...eew...=)

yes give her water. theres nothing wrong with water. i use to give my daughter the baby water. its in the same area as all the baby food and formula. its a gallon size. i would put ice in the water so it was like a toy also. she'd shake it and her the ice and would drink it cuz it was cold

I gave my baby water starting at mealtime when he started eating more than cereal. As long as formula is their main source of fluid and you aren't replacing that with water my pediatrician said it was just fine. I now keep a sippy cup of water with him all the time and have since he started using one. You might even try some really watered down Pedalite if you are worried about dehydration plus bring fruits like melons if the water doesn't go over well.

Quoting Samantha:

Just so long as you boil the water first or use bottled water.

Be careful of bottled water. There is no floride in it and there is a problem dentists are calling "Yuppie mouth".

yep it is fine to give water on a hot day. Moderation is the key. Our Ped says no more than 4 ounces for the entire day. The rest of their fluid at this age should be breastmilk or formula. Too much water can make your baby very sick!

Water is definatly ok :) I would probably avoid juice, even the baby juices you can buy, coz I wouldn't want bub to get to used to sweetened drinks at such a young age. My little man is almost 9mths and drinks water most days. I will give him juice at some stage, I'm not one of those people who think baby drinking juice = bad mother, but I figure the longer it is before they get a taste of the sweet stuff the easier it is for me coz I can just turn on the tap when he is thirsty.

my daughter didn't like water much until i picked up the Nursery Water Sesame Street ones. they're a bit pricey, but it got her stared on liking "Elmo Juice" and now she drinks "Aqua!" in normal cups. whatever works!
