Oh Missy, I wasn't referring to you! I just find it odd that some seem to find it SO hard to give you suggestions without including a link to their own personal blog/website/business.

My goodness! What part of "We don't allow solicitations" or "You cannot post about your business" do people not understand?

I invested in an office building. I use a management company to run everything so I don't have to worry about it; I could earn a lot more if I did it myself, but it's too time consuming.

They handle everything from lease contracts, janitorial services, landscaping, insurance, legalities, rent collection, enforcement, and client service. They take their portion from the rent totals and send me a check for my portion every month.

The only down side it that this requires a pretty sizable investment. In most cases, you can throw together a basic business plan to get a loan from your bank, then your income should cover the loan amount plus leave a little for you. Once the building is yours outright, you will have a lot more. I bought mine outright so I didn't have to worry about the bank, but a lot of people don't have that much money available at one time.

Another great up side is that commercial real estate almost always appreciates. So even if you have to take out a loan, you can see the building at any time and get your investment back, and you've still made the small profit from your leasing income.

Your options depend on your interests and your skills. For example, if you love to bake, you could start a "muffin of the month" club and deliver a basket of muffins each month to customers. You could babysit, encouraging your friends and family to have date nights. If you want something more formal, you might be able to find a part-time evening job depending on your skills, interests, education, and comfort level. This could be anything from grocery store work to janitorial work to direct sales to private tutoring. You have lots of options, so follow your heart!

You would be best checking out the work from home communities as we don't allow solicitaions in this community. It means that people can't post about their own businesses.
