My daughter will be 2 in a few weeks, and loves to imitate me as I care for her little sister who is almost 3 months. So much so that the past week she has started trying to "nurse" her dolls. Lifts her shirt and everything. It doesn't bother me, I find it funny, but I wasn't sure if other people would find that odd or unnerving if she did it while they were around. Any thoughts, or maybe funny stories of things your kiddos do when they imitate you?

Having young girls myself - I find your story funny! They tend to imitate what they see us do the most and with a young baby at home - you do have to breastfeed often! Some people might find it unnerving - bc they find breastfeeding unnerving. It's always a sensitive issue but unless she is doing this out in public I wouldn't be concerned. I have 2.5 yr. old & almost 4 year old daughters who love to put everyone that visits us in time out! I used to feel embarrased but it's a real aspect of our day and so they imitate it! lol! I've learned to just go with it & I rarely get embarrased by what they say or do anymore. Anyone with kids is usually sympathtic and knows that they will do and say the darnest things! Good luck!

She's imitating one of the most natural ways to feed your child. If you bottle feed she would do that. she's fine...

Aww, cute! My 23 month old does the same thing, but she feeds her baby through her belly button, lol. She imitates everything, especially if her big sister does it first.

2 year olds are the best immitators! I think it's fine that your daughter does that... and cute.

As for funny stories about immitating...

A few months ago, my mother got Bell's Palsy. Half of her face went numb (it's only temporary, she's fine now) and she couldn't even close her eye. One day, she asked me if Corbin (my son) noticed. After she asked me, she looked at him, and he was pulling half of his mouth down to look like Grandma! He would also hold one eye open and shut the other one. He was sweet, too... when they took a nap together, Corbin held my mom's eye closed for her! I know it sounds kind of horrific, but it's truly funny! My mom still laughs about it! Kids will pick who they want to immitate, and then do it without thinking... it's a good thing.

they love to do this now. our oldest is 2 1/2 and i see myself in her all day long. she likes to put her face in the belly of our 11 month old and say "i love you!" and tickle her toes and say, "i got your tootsies!" so i guess i do that a lot. it's a normal part of their development. kudos to you, she's echoing what a loving mother you are!
