Jumperoo or Exersaucer for a 4 month old?

I have a play mat, swing and a tummy cruiser for my 4 month old son. He has been using them since he was 1 month old. Now he seems to be getting bored of these items. I wanted to buy another product that would keep him occupied & entertained for some time.

I am not sure if I have to buy a jumperoo or exersaucer. Your suggestions are welcome!

Also any suggestions regarding activities for a 4 month old are also welcome.

The ONLY thing I actually got for my kids was an exosaucer. And that was more a matter of convenience than entertainment or exercise. Both my kids HATED playpens and after my first child discovered (at a VERY early age) how to get out of his high chair (and actually fell out of it), I started using the exosaucer for breakfast (lunch and dinner were eaten on our laps until he was big enough to sit by himself-having him eat breakfast there gave me a chance to actually wake up in the morning before he started causing havoc :P)

I agree with Jodi. Instead of loading up on a bunch of expensive stuff that your baby will quickly grow out of, just spend more time with him and let him have more tummy time :)

If your baby is bored with these things (1) you could spend some time on the floor with baby and (2) maybe being bored will mean there is incentive to get mobile.

Things like jumperoos and exersaucers can actually inhibit the development of gross motor skills, despite the fact they are promoted as assisting the process. The reason they inhibit the development is that they don't promote correct posture and use of certain muscular groups. Your baby needs to develop their gross motor skills naturally. I know that physical therapists HATE these things for this very reason.

Babies don't need all this paraphernalia - they need ways to develop naturally. Good old tummy time and one-on-one time with mum never hurt anyone. Why do we feel the need to constantly buy our children the latest and newest gadget?
