Landon is walking and crawling backward. Is that normal?

Just this last week Landon (13 months old) has been walking around the house backward and just now he was hanging out on the floor and started crawling around backward. Some people close to us I have asked if it was normal and they said that they couldn't remember their kids doing that. Is it something I should ask the doctor about or just let him be?

Its totally normal....my daughter done the same when she figured out she could do it! Its only because he has learnt a new thing to do and enjoys it...it most probably amuses him! He everntually learn how to walk forwards and then there will be no stopping him.

Very normal, most babies start crawling backwards before forwards because the motion is easier for them. He's just having fun and entertaining himself & everyone around him! :)

My 16 mo daughter does that. She thinks it's funny. You can tell by her face she's doing it on purpose. I don't think it's abnormal. In fact I think it's a pretty good skill to be able to coordinate that backward movement.

This post was really helpful!! My 18 month old has been walking for a few months now and just recently started walking and crawling backwards. I was concerned .. but was relieved to read all of your posts because watching him now I am certain he is just doing it to amuse himself :-) I am SO going to brag !

I'd have to say he's very talented. I'd just let him have his fun. If it were me, i wouldn't be concerned, i'd be bragging.

Yes! He's just doing it because it figured out how to lol.... My son still walks backwards a lot and giggles the whole time because he thinks it's funny. There are even babies who scootch on their butts because they think it's funny. If you're really worried though just ask your pediatrician.
