Hey, y'all! I'm new to being a stay-at-home mom, and I've found it to be pretty lonely. I'm looking to make some friends with other mommies so I don't feel so isolated. I'm also new to this site, so any help would be appreciated! :)

It is a pleasure to find SAHM mummies all over the world who understand you.

I'm with you on the lonely part. I do not have family or friends (that stay home) in the area. I have tried meetup and a few other sites... but I am not willing to bring my DD to someone's house that I never met before. Sorry, but to me its not a really safe move.

I chose to stay home with my DD and she is now 15 months. We have memberships to the local zoo, aquarium and park. Its helped us get out and they have program for kids which is nice. Also, our local library has a program and we go once a week. I haven't met too many moms that have a child DDs age. ... It is what it is... and it will pass. Hang in there.

I have found having a very mindful DH has helped. He understands the isolation and does his best to give me time alone without DD. Even if its 20 or 30 mins. It helps to get some just me time.

Oh and we have two german shepherds so it's a minor zoo every day :)

Hi Callie,
I've been a SAHM all my kids lives. 16/14/9. I've tried going back to work at times, but then I run into problems. I didn't have a good experience with childcare when my two oldest were little. So I decided to open my own in home day care. I started out small with a couple of kids their age and as they grew and started going to school I started taking kids of school age. Got to meet pretty cool people and some not soo cool. But it's another way of meeting people and making friends and at the same time making an income. Then when it got slow or the parents moved on I tried going back to work but then I run into problems with the pick up from schools so I'd quit. Just couldn't handle the uncertainty of how they would get home or if they made it home, what they're gona eat and all that. They're older now and I know they can take care of themselves, but.... I guess I just got used to being home and doing things my way and not having anyone tell me what and how to do it. But I also feel that at this age stage I need to be home to keep an eye on them. This age is very crucial and it's when they start rebelling or wanting to be out on the streets or somewhere with their friends and getting into trouble. NO THANK U!

With that said, I know exactly how you feel. Been there, done that and it does get pretty lonely and becomes depressing at times. You feel like there's no one else out there going thru your situation. But guess what?! There's a whole bunch of us out there, all over the world and from my experience, it's quite rewarding and a privilege to be able to stay at home and take care of the home/family. No one else can do a better job than u ;)

You or anyone else on here can always send me msgs or look me up on FB if you want to chat :D

Take care

Have you tried meetup.com or even your library or playgroup in your area?

This is a great place to get in touch with other Mums but sometimes it's even better to meet up face to face. This is also great if you are wanting different advice since we are from all over the world. I myself am in Australia so will be on at different times to most of you.
