I would like to know if anyone has the mirena , and have you had any complications. i got it yesterday and im still cramping but im not sure if it from the mirena or because im on my period. Should i wait till my period is over before i start worrying. I havent had any other symtoms besides the cramps.

I have had the Mirene twice. The both times I have had no problems. My periods are very light and last maybe a full day to a day and half. When I first got it I cramped a lot, but that was normal. The first time I got it removed it bc my husband and I wanted to try for another baby and I had it for about 3 yrs or so. My gyno said I would be pregnant right away, and I didn't believe him, but he was right. We found out within a month or so that we were expecting! I have not had any problems what so ever! I would actually RECOMMEND this, bc for me it has worked!

I have the Mirena and I have had the most typical results from it (as described by my doctor). It is not unusual to have cramping the next day, or to have your current period cramps feel exaggerated. However, there is nothing wrong with calling your doctors office for advice.

Cramping is a common side effect of mirena. You may experience it off and on for the first 3-6 months.

I was on it and bled for 6 months. My experience was awful. The cramping is from the Mirena insertion. But everyone is different. I know some people who love it and swear by it. It just wasn't for me.

I got mine a year ago only to stop my very heavy periods ( not for birth control). For the first 8 months after insertion I bled continiously and it was just aweful. I decided to take it out a few times but every time my obgyn asked me to give it more time to settle down. The only good thing was that There was no more heavy periods. It eventually settled down and the bleeding stopped, just light but long( 10-12 days) periods. And I prefer to have it than heavy bleeding and ending up in emerge.

I stopped having my period on Mirena 3 months after inserting it but when I am supposed to get my period I have really bad cramps and mood swings but no bleeding and I have also gained 20 lbs on the Mirena everyones reaction to it is different but if you really feel uncomfortable with it take it out. Me I am going to wait till its time to take it out and I will have to seek another method not being overweight surpasses not having my period any day.

I've had Mirena for about 2yrs now and love it also.

I did experience spotting for a full 6 months with heavier bleeding during my menstruation and extreme cramping, however after the 6 month time frame, the spotting stopped and normal menstruation began to get lighter. I still have cramping during that time of the month, but it's nothing that a little Advil can't take care of.

I've had Mirena about 3 years and I love it! I didn't want to have any "accidents" after my son was born. I couldn't remember to take my pill every night so it's great not to worry.

The insertion was a little uncomfortable but after that I wasn't in pain. My first few periods there was a lot of cramping but it went away after that. I did have spotting for maybe 1 1/2 years but I hardly get it now if any. No periods, no cramping and no pills!

If you have any concerns you should talk with your OB.

I loved the Mirena until it punctured my uterine wall and migrated into my abdomen!
