Hey Melissa. I struggled with oily skin and acne for YEARS! I found switching to a certified organic brand with aloe and tea tree oil was the best for my skin. Plus, an absolutely crucial step: use non-cosmedogenic or organic makeup. Do you wear makeup? I used to cover up pimples with makeup, which would just make them worse!! Then I learned that a lot of skin care products and ESPECIALLY make up can actually cause oily skin and breakouts. Here's a blog post on the basics of oily skin and on what I use: http://livesimpleliveorganic.com/best-fa... Ditching the irritants and the synthetic chemicals made a huge difference for me.

Melissa, have you tried Rodan + Fields? I started using R+F and it was a miracle worker. Rodan + Fields are the same doctors who created Proactiv, just a completely new formula. Proactiv never worked on me, either.

Thank you everyone so far. Btw I have tried proactive. It didn't work for me. I have no idea why i used it twice a day, and the mask every other day. My skin is just bad.

I am a beauty consaltant and sell Artistry beauty products.
Be careful with products like proactive, they have a lot of alcohol in them and this strips your skin of the oils causing your skin to over product oil to protect the skin. This can cause more issues than solve.
Soap is not for the face as the face has more open pores and most soaps are made of oils so you are just adding to the problem. The corn starch above is reducing the oils that which sounds like a great home remedy.
I have a 3 step system kind of like proavtive but with less alcohol and made more from plant products. I have a lady that has used it now for a month and she is doing considerably better. I also changed the third step to a regular mositurizer as we are in a very dry climit. That would make a difference on the area your living in. Bigger cities with lots of smog can be damaging.
Good luck
If your interested feel free to ck out our products, at least to read the ingredience an compare. www.amway.ca/mauro
If your in my area I would bring a Glow machine to look at the three layeres of your skin and see exactly what is going on and where it is dry or oily.
Eatting heathy is also an important factor... drink lots of water

I'm pregnant right now, so nothing really helps mine, but when I was a teen, I had it really bad. My parents got me that proactive that they advertise on tv. and it really works great.

being on diane 33 the pill really helped me! and now i take care to wash my face every morning in the shower and to moisturise to keep oils balanced afterwards. On the whole this has been a drastic improvement- however being preg and hormone a plenty, has made some come back, which is sad to see. Aloe vera is also very good for the skin you can apply it to your face before bed.
