I've been wondering if it's the age!! My son is not quite 10 but the attitude has been getting worse. I know that friends with kids the same age have reported the same thing. We had an incident last night over dinner. I can smile about it now but man it's not funny when he stomps off to his room to 'go to bed'. We gave him some time to cool down and invited him back down to eat. My husband and I explained how the situation could have been different had he chosen different words or actions. I can understand that they can get angry or frustrated or whatever...but they still need to act in a way that is acceptable.

I'm interested in any ideas that they give you over the phone Tasha. We all need to hear a differing perspective once in a while...give us new ideas, things we don't think of.

School hasn't started here yet (next week). I am thinking of making my kids a chore list of things that I expect of them. Nothing shocking on there, just more of a reminder as opposed to me always nagging at them. The more of a habit they get into, the easier it might be for them to remember....and get their allowance lol.

Omg i have a 10 year old girl that is the same too, to be honest she is a nighmare at the moment and does not listen to anything said to her, we have tried takeing things away from her that mean a lot to her but she doesnt care :-( seems to me she has no care in the world at the moment, her mood swings r really bad too she flips at the most silly things but she takes it out on her brothers and sisters and is forever calling me a idiot Grrrrrrr!!!. I felt like i was on my own so i phone childline and they have put me in touch with a support group which they phone me every week on a monday to discus how i am feeling and how they can help with sugestions i can do with Chanelle my first phone call will be this Monday so i am looking forward to it, because i have tried everything with her.

Oh wow! I thought it was just mine!!!! I am curious to see some reponses to this. My daugter is almost 10 and her response to everything shes told to do is "I will" but never actually does. It's becoming VERY irritating. Her mood swings are bad and her Dr. tells me it's her hormones. I feel bad because of that but at the same time I am clueless to what to do.
