also when i packed my clothes i left them on hangers so when i was at the new place i didnt have to rehang i put them in a large garbage sack - this is also a good time to get rid of junk you dont need and donate or sale.

When it comes to donating im a wiz!! im going to call salvation army to pick stuff up!! asap!!! Thank for the help!! Hope never to move again

I've moved 4 times in the last 10 years and I'm a checklist kinda gal.  Depends on how much time you have... I usually started way in advance and made list of things that shouldn't be packed (ie baby needs, etc)  then the rooms that were being packed and then just did a little at a time - I love seeing checkmarks next to my list.  Also, like many have said, get someone to watch your kids (take them on a playdate,or leave them with a friend) oh and we had pets to worry about too!   Here is a great moving checklist: http://www.homeproperties.com/moving/mov...

Best wishes!

We moved before Thanksgiving and it was very stressful. I recruited some family members to help watch my 2 year old so that I could pack and clean at the old house and then clean and unpack in the new house. My son's favorite toys and movies were the very last thing to be packed. I also kept them separate so that they could be unpacked first at the new house. I took advantage of every minute that he was sleeping and tried to pace myself. I knew that it wasn't all going to get done right away. An occasional glass of wine also helped. Ha ha! Best wishes and good luck with your move.

We just moved to a new State, luckily the new place is only an hour away from our old one.  I've got four kids so it's kind of tough to pack a bunch of stuff.  What I did was pack everything that wasn't used on a daily basis and I kept enough dishes unpacked to get us through a week.  I also kept out two to three outfits a day worth of clothing for the kids and two pairs of shoes a peice and packed everything else.  The final week before the move I didn't have much left to pack and like I said the move was only an hour away so once we closed on our house I was able to begin moving things during the day and unpack while the two older kids were in school.  I would say figure out what works best for you and if you can go a few weeks without it then pack it.  Hope this helps!

i had someone come and clean after I left which helped a ton and it wasnt to expansive i found them off craigslist.com Also if you have large items still needing to be moved i also found it easier on me to have a moving company do it. they also will move a # of boxes. If you have family near that will watch your little one that is always a help. pack all your dishes in newspaper then eat on paper plates its not ideal for long term but helps a ton at first. make sure to label all your boxes to the room they belong and that will make it easier when unloading. do one room at a time if you do more it will just get overwhelming.

GOOD LUCK - I HATE MOVING!!!!!
