I had this problem too, and I used the 20 min. guideline...go to her, lay her back down, talk in a reassuring way, but let her know you mean business. Leave her. She will cry again. Let her cry for 20 min., then repeat your no-nonsense visit. Start with smaller increments of time if you feel 20 min. is too long. My daughter eventually got over this, and the worst night I think I visited 3 or 4 times. Good Luck! It's hard listening to her cry, I know!

I had the same problem with my 19 month old. We ended up cutting his nap time down to one hour and he rarely gets up now. I've tried letting him cry back to sleep but it doesn't work. I hope you find something that works!

The best way to get her to sleep through the night is to let her cry herself back to sleep or whatever she does to comfort herself. It might be a rough week, but in the end she will train herself to go back to sleep.
