It's been a while for me, my girls are now 15 & 13-1/2, but I do remember. My oldest was 2-1/2 and my youngest had just turned 1, and the doctor told me how bad it was for their teeth, especially at night with milk or juice. I hadn't really, really tried to take my oldest off the bottle, because I figured she would freak since her baby sister had them. and she LOVED her bottle at bedtime. Anyway, I went home and decided to try and take both of them off the bottle. I got a packing box out and put all of their bottles in it and told my oldest that we were sending them to my friend, Auntie Jan, because she was having a baby and she needed the bottles for him. I figured it would be pure hell for a while, but she didn't even complain once. She thought it was great that she got to give her stuff to a new baby, and I literally mailed off all of the bottles, so there were none in the house to even see. Doesn't mean it will work for you, but I figure anything is worth a shot. Good luck!!!

my son was on the bottle until he was 19 months. he, like your son, only had it at nap and bed time, and he only had water in them. finally one morning i woke up and decided it was time to be done with it. i just started giving him his favorite sippy cup in place of his bottles. it was a rough 3 days or so, he would constantly get up out of bed and cry, but after a few days he realized he was not getting the bottle back and now he is fine! he has a blanky that he sleeps with, and he still takes a cup to bed, but mostly just to hold it. lol. im not sure why, but he just wants to cuddle with it, it is usually still full of water in the morning. good luck!!!

Nuby has a sippy cup with a bottle type nipple. It works the same as a sippy cup instead of a bottle, so I switched to those when Camryn turned 1. The transition was really easy for her.
