I have a 2 yr old and 11 week old. The baby just recently started sleeping up to 10 hours a night but when I get up to check on her around 3 am somehow her brother knows I am up, so he will get out of bed and come find me. Idk how he manages this, I am very quiet, don't turn on any lights or anything. Sometimes he will go back to sleep as soon as he finds me but the majority of the time he will stay up until after daylight no matter what I do which puts me being up from 3am to approximately 6 or 7am and then if I can manage to go back to sleep, the baby gets up around 8. If I could manage to take a nap it would be fine but I had to stop him from taking naps because he would stay up until 2 or 3am before going to sleep and I just couldn't do that anymore. Now I am getting about as much sleep as I did back then and I just don't have the energy to do this, and I seem to be in a worse mood than normal. Has anyone had this problem before?? If so, any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Try putting the boy to bed an hour or two later, or put them in separate rooms if you can.

I would also say try a later bed time or even try to put the new baby w/ bottle, diapers wipes, change of clothes, anything you might need when you get up to check of baby in your room that way you dont even have to leave the room and then your 2 yr old may never know that you are awake. If he does get up I would tell him its still night time and time to sleep. Put him back in his bed, get a sleepy friend or something he likes to sleep w/ and tuck him in just as you would for bed time, turn out the lights and leave the room. He will go back to sleep just as he would for bed time. If you give him as little attention as possible and tell him its not time to get up then he will get the idea and eventually go back to sleep or stop getting up to find you. Good luck!

Thanks! But they are in separate rooms and I have even tried getting him to sleep in my bed with me, in his bed, on the couch, or anywhere for that matter but he wont go to sleep. It is like he is no longer sleepy, some nights he has energy when he does this but other nights he will lay down with me but will never go back to sleep.
