Last week I switched his formla from Enfamil Premium to Enfamil Gentelese because he is very gassy.. Could this be why he wants to be ed every 2 hours instead of every 3?

POSSABILITY THAT IS THE REASON JUST GIVE IT A LITTLE WHILE AND SEE IF HE IS DOING BETTER BUT BOTH MY KIDS WERE THE SAME WAY AND I JUST STARTED FEEDIONG THEM AT 2 HRS INSTEAD OF THREE CAUSE THEY WERE HUNGARY AND IT SATISFIED THEM TILL THEY STARTED GETTED INTERESTED IN FOOD ABOUT 3M OR 4 MONTHS..

It sounds like he's going through a growth spurt. Also, if he was a gassy baby with the other formula, maybe he wasn't eating as much as he wanted to then, because he didn't feel well from all the gas build-up. And now he can eat as much as he needs because he doesn't have that problem. Just a theory though :)

You know what. No matter what you do hun listen to YOU and YOUR BABY. The doctors told us our son was consuming WAY too much, that his stomach couldn't handle it......... so we had to try to drag his feedings out but he still ate the same amount. Guess what? At five months old he was 29 inches and 23lbs...... Just a huge baby and we matched up his size charts with my boyfriends who is 6'5" and they are exactly the same size at the same age. So feed him as much as he needs and wants. Every website you read will tell you 'they'll know when to stop when they aren't hungry anymore they just won't eat anymore' when breastfeeding. But us moms on formula get strick regiments about what to feed our kids and what is normal? It doesn't always work! So trust your instincts from now on :)

No doctor has been worried about our sons weight and none have said anything except 'he'll walk and run it off anyway soon'. He's not fat, he's healthy and you know.... they really will tell you what they need :)

Our son was eating 4 ounces every 4 hours at about your babies age frame... maybe more. Then after that he went to eating 4 ounces every 2 hours and now he's eating 8 ounces every 4 hours.....

Oh, and our son was the KING of farts. Everytime you pushed his legs up he would fart.... it was bad. We tried every formula out there and none of them worked, and the soy and rice formulas just constipated him. What we found out works best is the Playtex Drop Ins system with the bags, because when you mix Enfamil Infant formula ever notice it bubbles and fizzes like a Cola? If you wait, these bubbles go away but of course who ever can wait...... so we would make the Enfamil Infant formula in these bottles with the bags...... and then burp all the air AND air/foam that comes next until it was just formula that comes out. This WORKS better than anything. No joke, all his gas has been gone for months since we finally started to do this. But they key is to burp out the foam and bubbles too. It doesn't waste much formula and baby is much happier :D

Good luck

My daughter also went through a growth spurt at 6 weeks; I was nursing and pumping so when she took a bottle from my husband it was usually about 3-5 oz. Regaring the change of times between feeding; she is now 16 mos old and she has changed her eating, sleeping, poop, etc habits about 85 thousand times. She would eat every 3 hours, then go as long as 5, then for the next couple of days, she would want to eat every 2. I learned quickly that sometimes there is not rhyme or reason; and needed to really learn to trust my maternal instinct, its amazing! Regarding the pacifier, my baby had one from about 5 weeks until recently and never had any gas problems. Hope you find a solution but in the meantime, try to trust your instincts, if he's healthy, putting on weight and seems satisfied, trust him.

My son was eating like crazy when he was a baby!! At his 2 week checkup he was eating over 40 oz in 24 hours. My dr told me to put rice cerial n his formula to help with it. She said that it is unhealthy for them to eat more than 38-40 oz a day. Hope that u find a solution :-)

Yes. Because some formulas are easier on the stomach so they are easier to digest and they want more feeds. It's perfectly okay to feed him every 2 hours if he wants it.

It's perfectly normal my son was feeding every two hours for a while. He went through a stage he didn't want much at all and he's drinking heaps again. Probably just a growth spirt some days they are just more thristy than others too. Like anyone.

this is the time of their first growth spurt. feed them whever they are hungry.
if you go to Babycenter.com, you can open an account and it will give you a weekly update on their milestones. it's a great way to konw what's going on at each stage.

My son usually ate every two hours, actually sometimes more often then that! I breastfed him, but would pump one bottle for my husband to feed him during my three hour shifts at work. I would pump 4 oz and Eric usually didn't finish it, so I'm guessing that he usually ate about three oz at a time, and about every two hours.

I'm breastfeeding so my son just eats as much as he wants. He's almost 12 weeks and has never had a bottle so I don't know how much he is eating. My suggestion would be to mix an extra oz or two and let him eat what he wants. Mine hates his paci and usually just uses me as a paci :) I guess I'm not one of those that tries to go by a schedule I just let him eat when he wants to eat right now. It's usually about the same time but when you hit growth spurts sometimes the kids just got to eat :) good luck

About two feedings out of the day he shows hes still hungry so ill give him one more ounce, but all the other times hes fine...After 1& 1/2 to 2 hours he shows hes still hungry I usually give him his pacifier and rock him, but I heard the pacifer also causes gas? Any Ideas?

I wouldn't try to give him anymore ounces unless he acts like he is still hungry right after the feed. 4oz is quite a bit for a 6 week old, and forcing him to drink more at a time if he isn't ready yet, will only cause an upset tummy.

Thanks, I'll try 5 oz his next feeding, What did you do when your son wanted to eat every hour?

About 6 weeks is when they hit a growth spurt. I know my son did that at that time but his what like every hour. you could try one more oz and see if he will eat it but you don't want to force it.

He's probably going through a growth spurt and needs the extra calories.
