I agree with the other moms, find out if there's anything wrong with your dh. Then make sure that she goes to bed and stays in bed at the same time every night. In the morning, make sure she gets up on time and is ready for school on time - don't let her be late for school. Good luck!

hi Donna

i have a 8 yr old girl

who is much the same if she doesnt sleep or get enough sleep

she normally has problems sleeping when she has things on her mind

unfortunately i went through a divorce and her dad not wanting to see my kids any more the upset resulted in sleep less nights .

to be honest my daughter ust to start falling asleep watching dvd in bed ,

as it took her mind off what was going on

wasnt pleased about the idea at first but i have young son too and it stopped him from being disturbed.

also when she started to settle in her mind she stopped wanting to watch dvds to go to sleep.

i personally wouldn't use medication at that age to get her to sleep

try like the lady said below that all is well at school too

hope u get ur problem resolved soon tc

Oh Donna, I was just thinking...maybe you should ask her what is going on in school. See if anyone is picking on her or if she is having trouble with some of her teachers or if she is having trouble with one or more subjects. These could be reasons why she is avoiding bed so that maybe then she would not have to go to school. Just a thought.

Hi Donna, Have you asked her why she is having trouble sleeping? Does she have a lot of bad dreams or night terrors? When she does sleep does she wake up frequently? This would be outside of bad dreams. I have a few more questions...have you asked her how her breathing is at night? If it wakes her up? There is a condition I have heard of and that is why I am asking. If there isn't a good reason when you talk to her and there isn't a medical reason then I would ask the doctor about giving her something natural called 'melatoin' and what dosage. They make 1 and 3 mg tablets which is available at a health food store. Take care.
