My son Nick is the youngest of three boys and he will be six in December! Here is the deal, he will urinate in the potty when he is at home with underwear and/or pants on. However, if he is in the car and has to go potty or anywhere else, he will go in his pants unless my husband or I are timely about making him go to the bathroom. He also will not defecate on the potty yet. He knows where poop goes though because the other day he helped me clean his mess up and he put the poop in the potty himself! My husband and I are ready to have a nervous breakdown over this problem! The school he goes too has been trying to help us and he rarely has accidents at school, but sometimes they do happen! ADVICE NEEDED!

Are you watching for cues when he has to poop? Try to catch him before and get him on the toilet. Is his poop hard and it hurts to have a BM?

Does he have anxiety about using a public restroom? My daughter is almost 5 and has been potty trained for 2 years. I still need to remind her half the time to use the potty at home. Sometimes she thinks she only needs to go once a day. She did take longer to consistently have a BM using the toilet because it hurt to poop. I just have to make sure she gets fiber in her diet.

Have you tried rewards??
