My Baby HATES tummy time - Help!

My little girl is 6.5 months. She absolutely HATES tummy time! And when I say HATES, I mean it. She throws a fit and won't stop crying.

One thing that puzzles me is that she knows how to roll over both ways and has done it multiple times, BUT she usually refuses to roll over when on her tummy. She chooses to throw a fit.

The other thing that puzzles me is that she really wants to go, go, go! She kicks her legs when on her tummy and reaches for anything and everything in sight, but she won't get up on her knees or stay pushed up with her arms, even when I try helping her or kind of propping her up.

I know all babies are different. But I thought she'd be crawling by now or at least learning!

Is there anything I can do to help her enjoy tummy time more or to encourage her to crawl or even just roll over on her own?

Every baby is different. Some babies dont even crawl - they go straight to walking. She isn't late to start at 6.5 months. I found that laying across mummys knees and playing was a good way to incorporate tummy time. Try getting down there with her too. She may not be able to see you on her tummy. Goodluck!

Don't worry!! I was horrible at making my son do tummy time...he's fine! He crawled a little late but I think it has more to do w/ his gigantic head!! At 8 mo he started crawling/sliding backwards and did that for over 2 months before he made any forward movement. But then he took off. Your daughter will figure it all out. She's rolling so it isn't like she is just laying without any incentive to move which might be worrisome.

A friend of mine used to stand a book up in front of her son while he was on his tummy and read it to him. He really liked that and had to look up to see the pictures. My son liked to "fly" on my knees/lower legs when I would lay on my back. If I did that in front of the TV you can be sure he strained that little neck of his to look up at it!!!

we had the same problem with my son. I really didn't make him do it often. I would prop him up in a sitting position. When I did put him on his tummy it was to show him how to crawl. My husband and I made it a game, we would put him on all fours, my husband would move my sons arms and I would move his legs in a crawling motion. before long he was off and crawling.

Get down tehre with her (though I am sure you already do that lol), put all her toys down with her and see if it helps. I will be honest girls HATED tummy time, so I didn't make them do it. I'd try all the time but if they fussed I'd let them move on to something else. Don't worry too much about it. Also, don't worry about her not crawling you said EVERY baby is different. My daughter is 11 months old now and isn't walking yet, which is a shock to me. My older daughter walked at 9 months old and my youngest just doesn't care lol. I've learned to enjoy what they do like to do and let them learn at their own speed. :) Good luck mama
