My 1.5 yr old daughter, is constantly sucking her right thumb...Have tried - distracton, scolding, persuasion, tying her thumb, applying 'femite' - the medicine meant to discourage thumsucking...but all of these efforts have failed miserably. Her teeth are coming out crooked cause of her thumbsucking. It also reduces her appetite, which is adding to my woes, as my daughter is already 3 kgs under-weight.

Any ideas at all, that might help are most most welcome and highly appreciated !!

hey, i kno how worrying it is, my boy puts 2 of his fingers in his mouth all the time!! and hes 2yrs old, doc says not to worry he will grow out of it, but try taking her to playgroups or the park to interact with other kids, so she can see other kids don't put their thumbs in their mouth, good luck!

Thanks Sobia. U r rite. She doesnt suck her thumb, when she is extremely engrossed or distracted in something. Its just that its difficult to engross and distract her "ALL THE TIME" Anyways, thanks so much for ur response. Hopefully both our kids shud grow out of it soon. : )
