She was diagnosed with this last week and is contagious for two weeks. She played with a little girl just getting over pneumonia and that's where we think she got it from. I'm really frustrated because of how long it takes this virus to run it's course. The doctor says it could take two weeks or longer. Does anyone have any experience with this? Please I'm so angry and frustrated.

And there are other meds for the neb other than albuteral....I wouldn't use that it has too many side effects.

My son is 3.5 years and got RSV for the third year in a row and for the third year in a row it turned into pneumonia so this year because he was older he just drank gatoraide and he already has a nebulizer due to his asthma so we just had to start using it again doing treatments every 4 hours round the clock. After about a week he felt better and by the end of about 2.5-3 weeks he was back to normal.

My son had RSV not that long ago..He was put on medicine, The doctor told me to use a nebulizer, and that really helped him, He wouldnt eat much bc he felt so bad, but we gave him pedialite so he wouldnt dehydrate, they make it in diff. flavors and also make it in popsicles he loves those..Lotz of rest or even just laying with her with a show she likes on and cuddling will help bc their not suppose to do alot of strenuous activity is what my sons doctor had told us..It does take a while to go away and it is very frustrating..If you can find some one with a nebulizer who also has the medicine you can use I would try it..My doctor told me its okay to borrow u just have to buy the tubing for the nebulizer bc they cant share, The tubing only cost a few dollars not even over $5 and the medicine for it is albuteral, you have to get it called into a pharmacy but I would ask the doctor if its okay bc that deff. helps
