She can sit up if you put her in a sitting position also when she is lying down can easily lift up her head up, but she can't get to the sitting up position by herself, I try to hold her hand and she pulls herself up. Also she hasn't crawl yet but rolls over all over the place I am really concern about it.

I agree with those who said to practice more tummy/floor time. Some babies do skip crawling and walk first -- or they roll around the floor instead. That's fine. BUT they should go back and learn to crawl at least a little bit -- it's actually very important for their development.

I wouldn't worry but practice BELLY TIME. It's a basic idea but that's the only way she'll work on her back muscles.

Remember one thing, it's very important. Do not sit your daughter or force her to sit if her body is not ready. It will just hurt her and do damage, she needs to build some muscles first. Many people just place kids on the chair or couch, surround them with pillows and it's all fine, BUT it's not! Imagine being hurt and having back problems and someone's forcing you to sit on your own. Just take your time, exercise her body with tummy time and stretching, it will work. Give her time to grow.

I started sitting my daughter on the couch kind of leaning back and she started pulling herself into a sitting position..maybe try doing that...kinda giving her the opportunity to want to do it herself!

Hi Yasamin
Does your daughter cry alot ? does she sleep through the night ? is she irritable alot ? The reason I ask is she may have dyspraxia , as my 2 boys have it they were late in sitting up , were not crawling & tended to bum shuffle it is all to do with co ordination look on the dyspraxia site & if you think the signs & symptoms are what your little girl has get your health visitor or doctor to refer her to an Occupational Therapist , my boys are now 8 & 6 & have just been diagnosed recently , but I knew something was wrong with them when they were little they were always falling over still do .You know your daughter better than any one , let me know how things go .take care .

Thank you everyone for your responds. I am going to call her doctor and have them take a look at my daughter just to make sure.

I think crawling is really important. I have one kid who never crawled and one who did. The main difference is that the one who crawls is 90% more agile and has great motor skill. The one who never did (because i encouraged walking from day one) is hopeless at climbing things, he's 2.5 now and his little sister at 11 months is more adventerous and can tackle more objects than he can. There is nothing wrong with him, its just that i never encouraged enough floor play with him. In the long run it wont matter, but i tell you every baby that can crawl and roll and climb everywhere is a much happier baby.

I say put her on her tummy to encourage crawling and this will help with everything. Its great that she's rolling around, keep encouraging her with this, eventually she'll switch into crawling instead as its more efficient and the rolling will stop. This will help her get the upper body strength she needs to get herself sitting up.

well i wouldnt worry about the crawling i know that can be a delayed or even missed step, but her not sitting up on her own by now, i would be a little concerned. but i noticed with my son i didnt let him fuss at all, when he started fussing cause he was struggling i would do it for him, and it slowed him down. i dont know if thats the case with you or not.

Some children get it all at once!! She might start sitting up for 2 weeks then she quickly start crawling and then pulling up. I personally have seen this happen!! The child turn one and wasn't doing nothing. The reason is because there mother never put the child down!! Before she was 16 months she was walking ,because she wasn't holding and carrying her every where. Some children skip steps also! I think u should sit him up. Put a pillow behind the child on the sofa. Also sit her up and slowly move your hands and catch when shes falling!!!

Every child is different I would just tell her Dr and see what he says! But I can tell you my Bf mom said he never did any thing and then at 11m got up and started to walk so it all how your child wants to do things lol.
My son refuses to crawl he would rather stand and try and walk and he's 7m
