All three of my kids throw a fit when it's nail-cutting time, even my almost 8yr old. I agree with the other moms who have said to let him help, just that little bit may make a difference, but otherwise, let him know that it is just something that needs to be done. I personally have a big germophobe of a daughter, so I have told her countless times that we keep her nails short so that dirt and germs stay out of there and she doesn't get sick. Also, I realize you have a son, so this won't work, but in the future, if you have girls, it makes nail-cutting time a lot more fun if a mani/pedi follows.. even my two-year old will sit still if she knows i will paint her nails when we are done.

I agree with Michelle N. Let your son try cutting his own nails, they won't look the best but he will feel more controll over the situation and less frustration. my 5 yr old daughter has been clipping her nails for a while now and everytime she gets a little bit better at it.
I do check her work after she's done and she lets me "fix" any mistakes.

I showed my girls how i cut my nails first and told them it didnt hurt. Then they would usually let me do theirs. Or I waited till they were asleep lol that always works

i have the same problem with my 13 month old. i cut her nails everyday after lunch, usually only getting 1 or 2 cut. it takes about a week to get all ten cut, then it's time to start again. when i need to do her toes i get daddy to help hold her down and we double team it. he gets 3 nails cut and i do the other 7.
