my 17 year old doesnt want to see me and it hurts like hell, how do you try to get on with life, when your own daughter is so not botherd about you. you see other moms in town with there daughters, having coffee, shopping...... for two years it has been this way, we have just started speaking again on the phone, so treading very carefully.but she so not that bothered, the pain is terrible

my mum and I had this problem too - I am now 23 and have just had my own daughter and we have only just fixed our relationship. I hadn't seen her in 5 years - to stop that from happening you need to make sure she knows that you are there for her and that you would like to spend some more time with her - In my case I was a real mess and really needed her but was too stubborn to go to her because I thought "shes my mum she should come to me" and she thought I resented her so she didn't bother trying to contact me because she thought I would come around when I was ready - but in doing that I was hurt because she wasn't chasing me and felt like she didn't care and resented her for it. (girls are all very complicated) .. sometimes it just takes time but make sure you always at least try and contact her so she doesn't feel abandoned - even if she doesn't reply she will know you care even if it hurts you a bit - most 17 year old girls don't want to hang out with their mums though.. the other ones you see have probably been bribed by their mothers with promises of new shoes etc.. it won't last forever.. x
