We used to love shower time and would spend ages playing in the bath, until one day Colin pulled the plug out and it made the worst sucking and gurgling noise. Now Ill be lucky to get either stripped near the shower/bath without a complete screaming match. Does any other Mum have any suggestions as to how I can resolve this? I have tried alsorts, from showering with the kids to standing in the bath while the water is being sucked downthe drain to show them its ok...

Im really glad to say we have fixed the problem :D We had Sophie and Colin in the bath and after they had gotten out I showed them I pulled the plug out while I was still in! At first they freaked out and I was told to get out... but once I explained what the sound was they watched the water go down the drain and the toys stayed witting on the top of the drain and Mummy was still in the same spot! Now when we finish in the bath, I pull the plug and Sophie tells Colin 'that sounds like water going down the drain! But the toys are too big!' Its so cute and she is soo grown up!

This may sound silly, but have you tried a flat round Matching plug instead that looks like it's part of the tub? And tell him the noise is all gone, this is the new tub?IDK sounds like something that would work for mine. And it was the 1st idea that poped into my head, good luck!,Stephy

what great suggestions! As my 2 are only 2 and 1 I am a lil under the benchmark for rewards.. one thing that has worked was letting Sophie blow bubbles and encouraging them to pop them.. making them get clean lol but this only works for a very short period of time.

I've just licked this battle! The dumb thing about my experience is they would just scream for no reason, there was no traumatic shower incident to make them scared of the tub they'd just scream for the sake of screaming!
So, what worked for me was I made them a three months sticker chart. Every time they got through a bath without screaming, or crying or whining they got a sticker. If they got through the whole month with a sticker on each day we took them out for icecream. Or you can do what ever kind of reward you want. Our kids were 4 and 3 when we did this so if you're kids are little younger rewarded more often then once a month might be a good idea.
Hope you find something that works for ya because my kid's episodes when it came to bath time drove me up the bleaming wall!!!

can they sit next to the tub and pull the plug and replace it w/o being in the shower? Show them they have some control over it? maybe google what people do regarding vaccuum cleaners....that's where I'm pulling these suggestions from (articles I've read previously).
