My one year old fights me on everything and throws fits constantly. Any advice?

Make sure your baby is napping enough. Supply choices as well. However, when its one of those things that's really non-negotiable, and the child is throwing a fit, ignore it. Isabel did it alot too, at 12 months, and I wouldn't walk out of the room, but I would turn away from her to show her that I wasn't going to pay attention to her when she threw a fit. When she'd stop I'd turn around, and then try to give her a hug. Sometimes she'd start again, sometimes she wouldn't. Just make sure that once they've had their fit, you let them know that you love them and you're not doing it to be mean. I try to explain to her why I said no, too, because I figure even if she doesn't quite understand, it's a good habit to get into for later on.

I hope this helps. :)

Try teaching her a bit of useful sign language, like "all done," "hungry," etc. (BTW, the sign doesn't have to be the correct sign; just something that works for you guys.) I also offer lots of choices to my 12 1/2 month old, both that I can live with. "Do you want graham crackers or cottage cheese for snack?" That way he feels like he has a little control of his universe. Also, are you sure she's getting enough sleep throughout the day? We're all a little cranky when we don't get enough sleep!

Welcome to the club haha. My son is the exact same way. He's always been strong willed so I started teaching him some baby sign language and it has helped a ton! It's just at this age they can't communicate verbally but want to!

my son is the same way. i think he is frustrated that he can't communicate with us and i agree with Rebecca that he is trying to see where his boundaries are. just wait until she can talk and be firm with what you believe and she will grow out of it. hopefully. good luck!
