Hello I am having trouble with an adult male and a child of 6 years old. The father of this child acts like a child and thinks the child is an adult and does not tolerate him well. This little boy would like his father to play with him but the father is too busy and or tries to stay away as much as he can? My son has a explosive temper and tries to stay away from his father. The father does not understand and father just thinks he is a brat but Doctors do not think so and have diagnosed him with ADHD and Oppositional defiant disorder.

How do I get these two to get along? I am getting a job soon and I think this will help them be more relient on each other, hopefully?

Thanks,

Kim T

Thanks Kay I appreciate that advice and hope they will be okay with the change, I know what you mean about might get worse before it gets better but my son thinks he is boss. Not a good situation.

Also took him off the ritalin and will be just on the tenex. I think this will help. my hours will be 4-midnight and I think this will be good for both of them. I have been a stay at home mother for 6 years and I think my husband has to take some innitiative and help out. He has read this book on ten ways about autism and he has really enjoyed it? Thank You for response was helpful!!

It is time for professional help, your son has been diagnosed with ADHD. You both need to understand what this means to your family. Your son will need your help and support to deal with this condition. Without professional help, going to work now might make the situation worse instead of better.
