My son is 14 months old and is constantly crying to be picked up

[deleted account] ( 3 moms have responded )

He use to drop to the ground and put his head to the floor then stop after a minute or so. Now since he went on holiday with his dad for a week, he just constantly cries to get picked up, when he does get picked up we have to walk around with him, he refuses to sit on our lap. And if we dont pick him up he just wont stop crying, he'll follow us around everywhere and drop on the ground and roll all over the place. Im exhausted and his father isnt any help. Any suggestions on how I can stop my son from having his tantrums?

Your son sounds EXACTLY like my 19 month old. My husband tells me to ignore her but she has a high pitched scream that even the neighbors hear through closed doors and windows. So I pick her up. I look at it this way, one day she will be grown and I will miss holding her (not the screaming part, though LOL). I think they will grow out of it.

Try holding him and giving him extra attention that he needs. When you can't hold him, get him distracted with independant play and go and do what you need to do. It will pass once he gets over this seperation anxiety.
