no thats not too big at all!! My son was 17lbs when he was 3mo. and he was born at 7lb 11oz! Sounds like he is growing like a health baby should

Your son is a big boy. See the below link to world health organisation growth charts. They are in kilos, 16lbs 4oz is 7.37 kilos. He might just be a naturally big boy.

25th to 75th percentile is normal. 50th is the average. Over 75th is big, under 25th is small. However you also need to compare weight with height/length. For example, if a baby was 75th in height but 50th in weight, they would be underweight for their height.

My son is 16lbs and 26 1/4 in. he is also 3 mos. the doc said that is ok. he was born above average height and weight and still is above average no biggie.

My son was like that too, though never chubby because he was always so long, he turned 9yrs yesterday and is almost 5ft tall and 90lbs or so, my daughter is 3mos old and barely 11lbs. They are all different. If he is healthy, content and hitting growth milestones appropriately, then don't worry.

No I dont think its too big. My first son was a big baby, I don't remember what he was at 3 months but he was 26 pounds at 6 months but the weight slowed down and he was still 26 pounds at 1year. Now hes average, smaller than a lot of kids. As long as he's healthy and eating properly I dont think you should be concerned. I don't think how he is now at 3 months is an indicator of a future weight problem. I bet he's hes beautiful and perfectly plump.

my little guy was only 6lbs 3oz at birth and by 5 months was up to 21lbs!!! and the doctors have never been concerned. he is still not crawling but he has evened out...hasnt gained more than just a couple oz over the last 2 months...but has grown 4 or 5 inches. im sure he is fine...just nice and chubby and a pain to carry!!! : )

I have twins and one of my twins is 20lbs and the other is 17lbs and they are 5 months old.... The one who weighs 20lbs now was about 16 at his three month appointment.... and there was nothing wrong with him at all.... it would be bad if he were like 26lbs but when they get to walking and running around it will all be burned off... just make sure you aren't just feeding him when he is fussy everytime... there are more reasons than hunger to why they fuss....

It all depends on how big he was when he was born, how long he is and if he has abnormal eating habits. Talk to your childs doctor and they will be able to tell you wether or not your child is too big.
