It takes children a while to get used to drinking from a sippie cup instead of a bottle. Offer him the sippie cup constantly and show him how to hold it up and drink out of it. Put formula in the sippie cup so he knows the taste he gets from the bottle will be the taste he gets from the sippie cup and once he finally starts drinking out of it you can mix up what you put in the sippie cup, water, formula, juice, milk, whatever you give him. I've worked in childcare for a long time, and have had lots of kids who do the same thing as your son. Eventually after constantly offering the sippie cup and less bottle, they figure it out. Don't worry he'll get it!

Straw cup. Start with a juice box and squeeze a little in his mouth, He will catch on to the straw in a heartbeat, especially if he doesn't get a lot of juice. Then move to a cup with a straw. After the straw cup is mastered you can start giving him a choice between a bottle of water or a cup of milk or whatever.

I was having trouble with my son not wanting to use a sippie cup as well and my friend told me to show him how to use it and hold it and then leave him alone, but not to give him his bottle at all. She said that once he got thirsty enough he would drink from the sippie cup and after a few hours of no bottle he did. I started him with the soft spout cups. I think he liked the fact that he could kind of chew on it like they can the nipples on the bottles. Good luck!

I started off with offering my daughter old a sippy cup with a straw that is thicker on the outside and she loves to nibble on it and drink from it. She is currently teething. She doesn't like the sippy cup to much because the formula comes out to fast. It doesn't stop me from offering it though. She does use it with rejection. I only offer the sippy cup at dinner time. the Straw sippy cup at lunch time. It also has a closeable lid. Kids will move at their own pace for new things, but I too recommend the constant offering. You will find a nitch and it will work. Good Luck!

Hi,

don't worry about it.  My daughter refused sippie cups and everything else.   At 2 she put all her bottles in a plastic bag and threw it in the trash.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with her, she is well away.

I was able to get mine to drink with a straw about the same age. Give that a try and see how that works. Just a little bit of water at first so he doesn't inhale it quickly and gag. It'll come in time. No worries.... :D

My oldest daughter did the same thing. I ended up resorting to giving her one of those sippies with a straw. She loved it. I must have bought 10 different kinds of sippies, and none of them worked. Good luck.
