I have an eight month old as well and my three and a half year old seems to be amping up the behaviour. I love him, but man oh man somedays I could easily spank him. It ranges from outright defiance and many "If you don't do this or that we will have to have a time out" his response "No thank you" to pooping in his pants. Somedays I'm not sure I want to be around him. I'm taking multiple time outs to keep my sanity. Do you think he just wants more time with me and is struggling with sharing me with his brother or is this the beginning of the 4's??!!! If so let me off this train!!

My daughter was the same way. In fact my second daugher and she were exactly 3.5 years apart. I think he wants your attention. Try to set aside some time with just you and him. Have someone watch the baby and do something together. Try to do it a few times a week and see if it makes a difference.

@Diane, that goes without saying. I feel that I am constantly discipling him and its getting to be a constant in our day. Katherine - Boston and I will be taking in a movie and some rides at the mall today and some alone time just him and I. I think you are right he wants my undivided attention. I'll keep you guys posted.
