I have had that experience with my 5 year old daughter. She had her tonsils and adenoids removed.

When my daughter had her tonsils taking out i was aloud to take her in the back where they did the surgery.. You should ask the nurse if they aloud that. If you need any other advise just write me a message on here. I will be here for you if you have any other question about her procedure.

My 3 year old son had his tonsils taken out a week after he turned 3 years old. When I took him into the operating room there were heaps of doctors and nurses around. They sat me on a stool beside the operating table and my son on my knee. The anesthetist showed my son the mask and put it on his stuffed toy dog he was holding. Then they put another one over his mouth and he did arch a little to get away from the mask. But within 10-15 seconds he was unconscious. It was a weird feeling, him all flopped heavy in my arms, but the doctors took him off me and walked me to the waiting room. The operation was all over within 15 minutes and he was in recovery where I sat with him. He was VERY upset, crying and confused with all the sedation in his system. I held him on my lap and he drifted in and out of sleep for about an hour. When he was more awake they gave him an ice block which cheered him up. He would get upset now and then as it was obviously sore and uncomfortable. We were released home about 5-6 hours after the operation. He had to be given pain relief and antibiotics every 4 hours, even during the night. I had to wake him for his medication. This is so they don't wake in horrible pain. It was a rough 4 days after the operation but definitely worth it!! My son hasn't been sick since he had it back in February. Huge improvement compared to being sick at least every month last year!

I wish you and your daughter the best and I hope my account of it has helped you a bit!
